Question : liability

Q:Can I change the sum insured for my public liability cover?
A:Yes. During the application process we offer you the minimum required liability cover. This is based on the aircraft's maximum takeoff weight, number of passenger seats and type of use. You can increase the liability cover up to £10,000,000 at that time or after you have purchased the policy. The change can be made through your FlyCovered account. Log in to your account, go to MANAGE MY POLICY, select Manage aircraft where you can select the required Public Liability cover.

Q:What happens if there is more than one Insured on the policy?
A:A condition appears in the liability sections of your FlyCovered policy wording. It states that each Insured under these sections are considered as third parties to the others and as such they are both entitled to protection, separately. For example, an aircraft that is owned by more than one party, which is involved in an occurrence where one part owner is piloting the aircraft and another part owner travelling as a passenger at the time, such passenger would not necessarily receive the protection under the passenger liability section as they are a part owner of the aircraft. This particular condition, however, extends cover in a number of ways and in this situation will ensure that any part owner travelling as a passenger in the aircraft, will receive the same level of protection as would any other passenger. The total liability of the insurer shall not exceed the applicable limits as shown in the Schedule, less any applicable deductible. Full details of cover, including any exclusions or conditions, are available in the FlyCovered policy wording.

Q:What is Liability cover to third parties?
A:This is the amount you are covered for should your aircraft be involved in an accident that involves and causes damages or injury to a third party property or person, this is during flight or while the aircraft is parked on the ground. All aircraft owners and operators must hold the minimum legal requirement for the insured aircraft. The minimum sum insured is calculated on the type of use, Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) and the number of passengers the aircraft can carry. During the quote process we offer the minimum amount for the aircraft from the details supplied, this can be increased up to a maximum £10,000,000. The minimum legal requirement can be found on the CAA website. Full Details of the cover and exclusions are available in the FlyCovered policy wordings.

Q:What is the policy deductible / excess on a FlyCovered policy?
A:During the quote process we offer you a choice of policy excess / deductible. This applies to the hull only and not the liability section of your policy. Some aircraft have a higher compulsory excess than others. The excess you have selected is shown on your Schedule and remains in place for the duration of that policy. If you select a higher deductible you will receive a discount on your premium. Some additional covers have fixed excesses and these are shown on your Schedule.
