How can we help?

Question : certificate for ground risk cover

Q:What is my Certificate of Insurance?
A:As an aircraft owner or operator you are required to have and be able to prove that you hold the minimum level of liability insurance required for your aircraft. The insurance certificate document provides this proof. When you purchase a Frequent Flyer policy we will send you an annual Certificate of Insurance. Should you select an Ground Cover+ or On Demand policy, we will send you a Certificate of Insurance for each period of insurance you book. We will also send you a new Certificate of Insurance should you make any changes to your policy. It is recommended that you carry your Certificate of Insurance when you are intending to operate your aircraft, should a CAA inspector require proof of cover. A copy is always available in your FlyCovered account.

Q:What are Insured Flying Days?
A:Insured Flying Days are the days or day when the aircraft is covered for flight risk. These days must all be selected and booked through your FlyCovered account, before you are insured for flight risks. 7 Insured Flying Days are included in your On Demand premium, you can purchase additional days at anytime. With a Ground Cover+ policy, you purchase a single day when you need it.

Q:If I have a FlyCovered Ground Cover+ or On Demand, how much will additional flight days cost me?
A:The premium for each Insured Flying Day is calculated at a daily rate and is linked to your risk. The daily premiums will be provided with your quote and are always shown in your FlyCovered account. With a Ground Cover+ policy the daily premiums reduce as you buy additional days.

A:Yes. Ground Cover+ or On Demand offers annual comprehensive ground cover when the insured aircraft is not in flight. Q:Is Ground Cover+ a traditional ground cover policy?
A:No it's not a traditional ground cover policy. Our Ground Cover+ policy provides annual ground cover, the BIG+ is that you can add flight cover on the days you need it. The ground cover section is protecting the aircraft insured under this policy when it is not in flight, for physical loss of or damage to the aircraft. Eg theft, malicious damage or storm damage. It also covers your legal liability to others arising when the aircraft is not in flight, including when you are moving the aircraft or running the engines. Unlike other ground cover policies you don't have to upgrade to an annual policy or call a broker to arrange flight cover, it's all done online. The Insured Flying Days can be used for private and pleasure purposes including incidental business or professional purposes and advanced instruction of the pilots named on the policy, but not for hire or reward. You can fly as many hours as you wish on the Insured Flying Days you buy and book.

Q:Is On Demand a traditional aviation insurance policy?
A:No it's not a traditional aviation policy. With a traditional aviation policy, you are paying for flight days when your aircraft is sitting on the ground. Our On Demand policy provides comprehensive annual ground cover and 7 Insured Flying Days to book and use when you need flight cover, you also have the option to purchase additional flight time when you need it. You select and book Insured Flying Days through your FlyCovered account, you can do this at any time before you fly, even on the same day; it only takes a couple minutes from your smartphone, tablet or PC, you can fly as many hours as you wish on these days. It's a fairer way of buying and using aviation insurance for the thousands of aircraft owners, who fly less than 30 days a year but still pay for flight cover when their aircraft is sitting on the ground.

Q:Am I covered to carry passengers if we are "Cost Sharing" the flight?
A:Yes you are covered. As a private pilot you are allowed to carry up to six cost-sharing passengers in a light aircraft providing, no profit is made. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says costs do not have to be shared equally but the pilot must make a contribution. We suggest you contact the CAA if you are in any doubt of the rules around this. No profit is allowed in this situation, as that would make it a commercial flight for which an Air Operator Certificate would be needed from the CAA. It is illegal to conduct commercial flights without that certificate.
