Q:Do you have a minimum hours requirement for pilots.
A:No, all pilots must hold a valid pilots licence (NPPL, LAPL, PPL, CPL or ATPL) with the correct ratings, certificates and privileges for the aircraft being insured. They must hold a valid medical certificate or self-medical declaration for the licence and ratings held. We do not cover ab-initio training. Adding a pilot with low or no hours on type or low flying hours may increase your premium.

Q:Are instructors covered under the policy?
A:Yes they are. Our wording states in the event of there being a qualified flying instructor or examiner on board the aircraft for the purpose of advanced instruction of a Pilot shown in Item 7 of the schedule, the flying instructor or examiner shall be deemed to be a permitted Pilot under this Policy. Ab-Initio Instruction for the purpose of obtaining a licence is not covered. This means use of the aircraft for flight training of a pilot shown in the Schedule, for a purpose other than obtaining a licence necessary to command the aircraft. Advanced instruction includes but is not limited to continuation training, instruction to gain a rating and conversion training. If you have a Pay As You Fly / On Demand or Ground Cover+ policy you will need to book an Insured Flying Day in your calendar.
