Ground Cover+

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions.

Q:Is Ground Cover+ a traditional ground cover policy?
A:No it's not a traditional ground cover policy. Our Ground Cover+ policy provides annual ground cover, the BIG+ is that you can add flight cover on the days you need it. The ground cover section is protecting the aircraft insured under this policy when it is not in flight, for physical loss of or damage to the aircraft. Eg theft, malicious damage or storm damage. It also covers your legal liability to others arising when the aircraft is not in flight, including when you are moving the aircraft or running the engines. Unlike other ground cover policies you don't have to upgrade to an annual policy or call a broker to arrange flight cover, it's all done online. The Insured Flying Days can be used for private and pleasure purposes including incidental business or professional purposes and advanced instruction of the pilots named on the policy, but not for hire or reward. You can fly as many hours as you wish on the Insured Flying Days you buy and book.
Q:Does Ground Cover+ offer comprehensive flight and ground cover?
A:Yes. Ground Cover+ offers annual comprehensive ground cover when the insured aircraft is not in flight. Full flight cover is provided on any days you have booked Insured Flight Days for through your FlyCovered account. A:We are unable to cover 2 categories of aircraft on the same policy at this time. You will need to have a policy for each category of aircraft.
Q:What happens if there is more than one Insured on the policy?
A:A condition appears in the liability sections of your FlyCovered policy wording. It states that each Insured under these sections are considered as third parties to the others and as such they are both entitled to protection, separately. For example, an aircraft that is owned by more than one party, which is involved in an occurrence where one part owner is piloting the aircraft and another part owner travelling as a passenger at the time, such passenger would not necessarily receive the protection under the passenger liability section as they are a part owner of the aircraft. This particular condition, however, extends cover in a number of ways and in this situation will ensure that any part owner travelling as a passenger in the aircraft, will receive the same level of protection as would any other passenger. The total liability of the insurer shall not exceed the applicable limits as shown in the Schedule, less any applicable deductible. Full details of cover, including any exclusions or conditions, are available in the FlyCovered policy wording.
